Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 95 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight of The Night’ honors was the preliminary battle between Erick Silva and Luan Chugas which ebbed and flowed over the course of almost a full three rounds.
Both men put the other in trouble in the early rounds as they threw caution to wind with exciting exchanges. Silva started to shift the momentum more firmly in his favor in the third round and then showed his predatory finishing instincts to sneak behind Chugas and drag him to the mat in a rear-naked choke for the submission stoppage with barely a minute of the fight remaining.
One of the two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards was handed to Eric Spicely who produced an upset win over Thiago Santos, never giving the favorite a chance to settle into the fight as he outgrappled him and then siezed upon a rear-naked choke to put an end to the bout mid-way through the opening round.
Vicente Luque also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after a swift win over Hector Urbana in the prelims, putting his opponent on the back foot with strikes, and then landing a crushing right hook that delivered the KO finish just 60 seconds into the fight.
