The moments leading up to Miesha Tate’s unexpected retirement announcement following her loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 this past weekend are detailed in the new ‘UFC 205: The Thrill And The Agony’ preview video.
“I’m not showing up in here anymore,” Tate is overheard telling her long-time boyfriend and fellow UFC fighter Bryan Caraway inside the Octagon after the fight. “I don’t care enough.”
“You show up in practice,” Caraway responded.
“I just, I don’t have it anymore,” Tate reiterated.
After the decision was announced Tate and Caraway spoke again before she went on the mic.
“I don’t want to fight anymore, Bryan. I don’t want to do this anymore.”
In her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Tate then confirmed that she was going to hang up her gloves.
Backstage after the event Tate and Dana White would have a minor squabble over her refusal to go to hospital for a check-up, with the UFC president eventually convincing her to go by saying that he’d give her a job if she went.
That’s likely to be something related to working in front of the camera, with Tate already having shown in the past that she’s a good analyst.
Tate and White were then pictured at a restaurant earlier this week, presumably discussing what her future now holds.
