Jason Knight looked good again tonight at UFC On FOX 23 as he found a finish against Alex Cacares by way of rear-naked choke in the second round.
Round One:
Quick exchange of punches to start and Caceres loses his balance and stumbles backwards. He wades straight back in with a kick though.
Another kick for Caceres and Knight clinches him up and presses him to the cage. It’s not longe before they break free and go back to striking though.
Another exchange in close. Caceres with a leg kick and a straight counter lands for Knight in return. Kick upstairs misses for Knight and he follows up with a spinning backfist attempt.
Straight punches land for Knight. Now a leg kick, and again. He pumps the jab now. Caceres with punches to the body and head.
Another leg kick for Knight and then a punch in return from his opponent. Caceres does well to duck away from some incoming offense.
Knight wades forward and lands, but Caceres makes him miss a bit and lands a counter. Knight rushes in and presses Cacares up against the cage, potentially looking for a takedown.
Caceres defends and breaks away from the cage. Caceres with a nice punch to the body. He lands a leg kick that knocks Knight off-balance.
Both fighters exchanging hooks. High kick for Knight. Leg kick for Caceres is countered by a punch from Knight that momentarily drops his opponent.
Knight clinches up and lands a huge takedown. Caceres gets up, but Knight is on his back and brings him back down with a rear-naked choke attempt in the final seconds of the round, but he can’t finish it in time.
Round Two:
Cacares with a jab. Now a front kick. Knight misses with a head kick attempt. Leg kick for Knight. One in return from Caceres.
Body kick for Caceres. Straight left for Caceres, but he eats a counter in return. Front kick for Knight. And another. Cacares trying to clinch up, but Knight shrugs him off.
Knight with a nice throw and takes Caceres’ back. He quickly locks in the body triangle to secure his place and lands some punches to soften up Caceres.
Half the round remaining and Knight is looking to set up a rear-naked choke. He lands a few good elbow strikes to distract his opponent and then finally goes for the choke. Cacares able to fight it off, but Knight remains firmly attached to his back.
Cacares trying to work his way free, but he can’t shake Knight off. He’s surviving though with a minute now remaining in the round, but he’s taking some elbows again.
Knight again slips in the rear-naked choke and this time it’s in tight and after hanging on as long as he can, Caceres reluctantly taps out at 4.21mins of the second round!
