Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 104 event in Houston, Texas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main card opener between Jessica Andrade and Angela Hill, which went the full 15 minutes in a hard-hitting encounter.
Andrade was the aggressor all fight long, continually bombarding Hill with big punches to the body and head, but it’s to her opponents credit that she was able to withstand so much heavy artillery without crumbling, and would occasionally land a crisp striker herself on the counter.
It was an entertaining battle and Hill will gain plaudits for her toughness, while Andrade marked herself out as a worthy title contender in the strawweight division.
The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was handed to ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung, who demonstrated both his stout chin and punching power as he stopped Dennis Bermudez with a single uppercut in the opening round.
Also scooping up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was Marcel Fortuna, who accepted a fight with 260lb heavyweight fighter Anthony Hamilton on short notice despite being drastically undersized at just 210lbs, yet still emerged with a KO victory in the opening round courtesy of a big overhand right that felled the bigger man.
