ESPN’s Steve Levy Claims Mayweather Vs McGregor Could Happen In June

Talk of a potential boxing fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor just refuses to go away and the latest to stick his oar in on the situation is ESPN’s Steve Levy.

“Hearing Mayweather/McGregor could happen sometime in first 2 weeks of June. #Vegas,” Levy wrote on his Twitter page last night.

That claim is likely to be met with considerable scepticism however, particularly given that just a couple of days ago even Mayweather appeared uncertain whether McGregor actually wanted to fight him.

““The Conor McGregor fight, I don’t know if it’s going to happen,” Mayweather told ESPN on Tuesday. “If it do, it do, if it don’t, it don’t. They ask me about this fight always.

“If Conor McGregor really wants this fight to happen, stop blowing smoke up everybody’s ass. Sign the paper. Sign the paper. You said you were boss, just sign the paper and let’s make it happen.”

Mayweather had previously hinted that the UFC was the biggest stumbling block to completing the deal since McGregor is still under an exclusive contract with them, and so far Dana White has repeatedly laughed off any notion that the fight will happen.

Meanwhile, McGregor is still awaiting the birth of his first child with his long-time partner Dee Devlin in May, which only adds further doubt to claims that the mega-fight with mayweather could happen just a month later.
