Alex Oliveira got the better of Tim Means in their rematch tonight at UFC Fight Night 106, using repeated takedowns to gain the upperhand and then sunk in a rear-naked choke in the second round for the submission finish.

Round One:

Early body kick from Oliveira and another. Now a body punch too as he gets down to business quickly here.

They clinch and Oliveira spins Means into the cage and soon after is successfully able to land a takedown.

Means thinks about an armbar attempt from his back, but then abandons it. He works for butterfly guard and tries to propel his opponent away from him, but Oliveira does well to stay on top.

Again Means uses butterfly guard to create space and this time is able to work his way back to his feet against the cage. Oliveira stays tight to him though and after jockeying against the cage, ‘Cowboy’ takes him for a ride and dumps him to the mat again.

Means quickly back up, but Oliveira remains attached to his back and throws him down again. Back up Means goes and then back down yet again.

Oliveira taking Means down with authority, but that could prove to be tiring. Means stands again and this time when they go to ground it’s he who lands on top.

Means in side control looking to lands some punches now as the round comes to a close. Oliveira landed a partial upkick after the bell there and he gets a quick warning from ref John McCarthy.

Round Two:

Means changes things up early in the second round by going for am immediate takedown, but it’s stuffed and Oliveira manages to press his rival against the cage.

They switch positions in the clinch a couple of times and then ‘Cowboy’ sucks Means legs out from under him to get the fight to the ground.

Means tries to use the cage to wall walk and gets to his knees, then stands, but with Oliveira body locked to his back. Oliveira drags him to the mat and takes his back, sinks in a rear-naked choke and it’s so tight that Means quickly taps out with 2.38mins of the second round gone.
