A light-heavyweight fight between Patrick Cummins and Gian Villante has been booked for UFC On FOX 25 on July 22nd in Long Island, New York.
The fight had originally been booked to take place at UFC Fight Night 102 last December, but was cancelled after Cummins suffered a staph infection.
Cummins is coming off a majority decision victory over Jan Blachowitz earlier this month at UFC 210, getting him back to winning ways after back-to-back losses against two veteran stars, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Glover Teixeira.
In total the 36-year-old Cummins has now compiled a 5-4 record in the UFC since first getting the call-up as a late replacement to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 170 back in 2014.
New York native Villante went toe-to-toe with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua last time out at UFC Fight Night 106 in Brazil, but lost out a third round TKO.
The 31-year-old Villante has been alternating between wins and losses for the last couple of years in the UFC and holds an overall 5-5 record there, with his biggest wins coming against Corey Anderson, Sean O’Connell and Cody Donovan.
Cummins Vs Villante is the first bout to be attached to the UFC On FOX 25 show and is expected to take it’s place on the undercard for the promotion’s first ever visit to Long Island.
