Valerie Letourneau Signs For Bellator

Valerie Letourneau

After leaving the UFC by mutual consent earlier in the year, Valerie Letourneau has now signed for the Bellator promotion.

The 33-year-old has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion and is set to compete in their 125lb flyweight division.

Letourneau is a former UFC strawweight title contender, who booked a shot at the belt against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in 2015 after a three-fight winning streak in the Octagon.

She lost by unanimous decision to the champion by unanimous decision though and has since added a further two losses to her record against Joanne Calderwood and Viviane Pereira, which signaled an end to her time in the UFC.

Letourneau had difficulties making weight at 115lbs, so having a chance to fight 10lbs heavier in Bellator’s flyweight division will be a definite plus point for the Canadian fighter.

Other notable fighters on Bellator’s 125lb roster at this moment in time include the in-form Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, who has posted a 6-0 record to date, while ex-Invicta FC veterans Colleen Schneider and Sarah D’Alelio, plus the Ukraine’s Lena Ovchynnikova are also potential opponents for ‘Trouble.’
