UFC Fight Night 113 takes place in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday and we’ve got our predictions for all the fights below.
—
Main Card:
Gunnar Nelson vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
Ponzinibbio tends to fly under the radar more than he should given that the striker has consistently performed well in the UFC and is currently on a four-fight winning streak.
On the feet he should perform well, with his consistent kickboxing based offense likely to pay more dividends than Nelson’s more patient karate-based approach.
However, on the ground Nelson is extremely difficult to deal with and I think that will prove to be Ponzinibbio’s undoing here as the Icelandic fighter eventually finds a way to take him to the mat and make him pay.
Gunnar Nelson to win by submission in Rd3
—
Joanne Calderwood vs. Cynthia Calvillo
Calderwood will enjoy the hometown support here, but even though she’s facing a less experienced opponent in Calvillo, this is still a tough fight for her.
Calvillo has been something of a spark plug so far in her brief UFC run and has already been hailed as a potential future star by Dana White. She’s by no means the finished article on the feet though and Calderwood’s muay thai could pose a few problems for her in the striking exchanges.
It’s on the mat that Calvillo really excels though and that’s where Calderwood has defensive holes in her game, so the chances are good that she’ll be able to find a submission finish from there.
Cynthia Calvillo to win by submission in Rd2.
—
Steven Ray vs. Paul Felder
This is another interesting test for Scotland’s own Ray as he looks to build on a fruitful UFC run so far that’s seen him win 5 of his 6 fights to date.
Both men are primarily strikers and that should lead to some tasty exchanges on the feet, with Felder potentially just getting the better of it, but Ray is the more well-rounded fighter and I think he’ll take advantage of that to mix things up with mat work too in order to edge his way to a decision victory.
Stevie Ray to win by decision.
—
Jack Marshman vs. Ryan Janes
Janes is a threat on the floor, but Marshman likes to slug it out on the feet and I think that will work out for him on this occasion as he swarms on his opponent for a second round finish.
Jack Marshman to win by TKO in Rd2.
—
Paul Craig vs. Khalil Rountree
Craig is a solid grappler and that’s an area that Rountree is somewhat lacking in, so there’s a good chance that the Scottish fighter can secure the ninth submission victory of his career here.
Paul Craig to win by submission in Rd2.
—
James Mulheron vs. Justin Willis
Two heavyweight newcomers on show here and with Mulheron coming in on short notice and being the smaller fighter of the two, Willis will have a good chance to show his power as he slugs his way to an early stoppage before he runs out of gas.
Justin Willis to win by TKO in Rd1
