Earlier this week Irate UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley demanded a public apology from Dana White after being publicly criticized by the UFC president for his performance at UFC 214 on Saturday night, but it seems the two have now agreed to bury the hatchet.
Woodley had gone as far as to claim that he would leak sensitive information if White didn’t yield to his demands, but cooler heads have now prevailed following a series of phone calls between the two this week.
“There was some yelling back and forth,” Woodley admitted to ESPN. “At the end of the conversation, I felt pretty comfortable. It ended on a positive note. Two men can talk on the phone and maybe not agree on everything, but at least respect each other.
“I still feel he should apologize publicly, but I’m not going to hold my breath. The conversation ended with respect and that was really my goal. Dana knows all about talking off emotion. I went a little (crazy) and was talking off emotion, too. Did I really plan on leaking stuff? Probably not. But at the time, I was mad and it sounded good.”
The two may now have made amends, but that doesn’t change the fact that White has now opted to go down a different route for Georges St-Pierre’s return fight, with middleweight champion Michael Bisping revealing last night that it’s now official he’ll be fighting him next.
However, it doesn’t look as if Woodley would have been ready to fight GSP any time soon anyway as he revealed earlier this week that he tore his labrum during his unanimous decision win over Demian Maia on Saturday night, with his medical suspension report stating that as a result of that he’s now on a 180 day suspension.
