Matt Brown Will Retire After Diego Sanchez Fight

UFC veteran Matt Brown has revealed that he’s preparing to bring his career to a close.

Yesterday, ‘The Immortal’ stated that he will retire after one last fight in the Octagon against Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 120 in Norfolk, Virginia on November 11th.

“11/11 will be my retirement fight,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “Thanks for enjoying the ride with me this will be an amazing show me and Diego will put on a show for all of you.”

Brown has had an action-packed career that perhaps will best be remembered for a remarkably period in which he was on the verge of being released from the UFC after a slump in form that saw him lose four out of five fights, only to then go on a seven-fight unbeaten run between 2012-2014 that put him on the verge of title contention.

However, all good things must come to an end and a loss in a title eliminator with Robbie Lawler would then be the catalyst for another lengthy losing streak that’s brought the 36-year-old to the conclusion that it’s time to hang up his gloves.

Brown’s announcement adds extra spice to his fight with his fellow grizzled veteran Sanchez, which takes place on a UFC Fight Night 120 card that will be headlined by former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis as he takes on Dustin Poirier.
