Fabricio Werdum only agreed to take on ultra-late replacement Walt Harris at UFC 216 earlier today after Derrick Lewis pulled out injured, but the Brazilian still delivered a brief masterclass in Brazlilian Jiu-Jitsu as he quickly forced his opponent to submit.
Round One:
Werdum comes forward with an early head kick, but Harris isn’t there to be hit.
However, the former champ then reaches for a single leg and soon has Harris down on the canvas. This is the nightmare scenario for Harris and with the greatest ease the BJJ ace is in full mount.
Harris moves to improve his position, but that just allows Werdum to take his back and he drops back and it looks like he’s going for the classic rear-naked choke.
However, Werdum then shows of great dexterity and skill to instead go for an armbar instead and it quickly forces the outmatched Harris to tap with just 1.05mins on the clock.
All credit to Harris for stepping up on literally just a few hours notice against one of the best heavyweights of all-time, but unfortunately for him Werdum was just way, way too much for him.
