Serving as a reminder of just how popular he was in 2017, UFC superstar Conor McGregor makes an appearance in Twitter’s end-of-year ‘ Top 10 Most Retweeted’ athletes list.
After months of speculation about a potential blockbuster boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather, McGregor’s confirmation that “THE FIGHT IS ON” back in June, alongside a picture that jokingly features the fighter alongside Mayweather Sr. took the seventh spot on the ‘Most Retweeted Athlete Posts’ list, racking up nearly 250,000 retweets.

However, McGregor was pipped to the post by his rival Mayweather, whose post-fight “50-0” message took the No.6 spot with 270,000 retweets.

That being said, McGregor also grabbed the No.5 spot on the ‘Top Tweeted Athlete Handles’ list, behind Christian Ronaldo (No.1), LeBron James (No.2), Neymar (No.3) and Colin Kaepernick (No.4).
