FOX have confirmed they will air a replay of the highly-entertaining UFC 218 pay-per-view event on the channel at 10pm on Christmas Eve.
FOX also did this last year on the same day with a re-run of UFC 206: Holloway Vs Pettis and it did stellar numbers, with 4.7 million viewers tuning in, making it the second most watched UFC event on the channel ever.
However, it should be noted that on that occasion the event was proceeded by a major NFL game, which had a big part to play in the numbers, and that won’t be the case this time around.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of great fights from UFC 218 for FOX to choose from to air on the 90 minute broadcast, including the main event featherweight title rematch between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo, Francis Ngannou’s devastating knockout of Alistair Overeem, a ‘Fight Of The Year’ candidate between Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje and even a preliminary clash between Yancy Medeiros and Alex Oliveira that also has FOTY potential.
Even if only three out of those four fights end up getting air-time it would be a great showcase for the UFC on the channel and provide a great showcase for rising stars like Holloway and Ngannou.
