UFC Fight Night 126 now has a headliner with Donald Cerrone set to fight Yancy Medeiros in the main event on February 18th in Austin, Texas.
This is a big fight for the 34-year-old ‘Cowboy’ as he’s coming off a trio of losses in 2017, including two by TKO against Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till, in addition to a unanimous decision loss against Robbie Lawler.
That kind of form is unheard of in Cerrone’s career up to this point, having never lost more than one fight in a row throughout the first 40 bouts of his run as a professional.
He’s not been given an easy match-up to try to get back on track in 2018 though, as the 30-year-old Medeiros is currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak against Sean Spencer, Erik Silva and most recently Alex Oliveira.
Like Cerrone, Medeiros has moved up from the lightweight division for his past few fights, and his latest victory earned him the No.15 spot on the divisional rankings, while ‘Cowboy’ currently holds the No.10 position.
Cerrone Vs Medeiros fronts a UFC FIght Night 126 line-up that will also feature a heavyweight clash between Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis and Marcin Tybura, plus Sage Northcutt going up against Thibault Gouti.
