Sara McMann has a new opponent for UFC on FOX 28 on February 24th in Orlando, Florida as it’s now been confirmed she’ll be facing off against Marion Reneau.
McMann had originally been scheduled to welcome former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya to the Octagon, but those plans changed when another ex-Invicta fighter Tonya Evinger pulled out of her fight with Reneau a week earlier at UFC Fight Night 126 in Austin, Texas.
The UFC have now resolved the issue by bringing Reneau to UFC On FOX 28 to fight McMann instead, but it does mean that Kunitskaya is now left without a fight, and at this stage the promotion haven’t indicated what they intend to do about that.
Nonetheless, it’s a move that appears to have McMann’s approval as she’s since wrote on Instagram that she’s, “much happier facing higher ranked opponents.”
The No.8 ranked McMann suffered a submission loss to Ketlen Vieira last time out, snapping a three-fight winning streak in the Octagon for the 37-year-old.
As for the 40-year-old Reneau, she’s two places behind at No.10 on the divisional ladder and is unbeaten in her last three fights, though one of those was a majority draw against Bethe Correia.
