Paige VanZant was heard mentioning to her corner at UFC Fight Night 124 last night that she’d broken her arm in the first round, and indeed an x-ray has now confirmed that her forearm did indeed snap.
VanZant posted up a picture of her x-ray a few hours after the fight, and appeared to be in remarkably good spirits given the extent of the injury and the fact that she also lost by decision to Jessica-Rose Clark in the co-main event of the evening.
Well… I broke my arm in the first! I was able to finish the fight but as you can see, had a hard [time] recovering and throwing my right. I’ll be back better and stronger than ever! 💪🏼🦁 it’s all apart of the fight game. God had other plans for me. 🙏🏼 darn spinning back fist. pic.twitter.com/v5DhSv5YxD

VanZant also confirmed that the break happened when she attempted a spinning backfist in the first half of the fight.
Despite the injury, VanZant never gave her opponent any indication that she was hurt and instead just started utilizing more kicks, and even managed to outstrike Clark in the final round with a greater offensive output.
Nevertheless, Clark had been able to outgrapple the 23-year-old in the earlier rounds and so VanZant loses in her flyweight debut and now has only one win in her last four fights.
