UFC London will take place later today, but the promotion are already making plans to return to the UK in just a few months time.
UFC Fight Night 130 on Sunday, May 27th in Liverpool, England and it’s already been confirmed that rising welterweight star Darren Till will be taking the headline role on the card, though his opponent is still to be confirmed at this stage.
The 25-year-old Till was born in Liverpool, but more than that he’s also one of the most promising emerging talents in the UFC ranks at this moment in time, maintaining an undefeated record in his 17 fight career, including four wins and a draw in the UFC to date.
Till has defeated the likes of Wendell de Oliveira, Jessin Ayari and Bojan Velickovic during his UFC run, but what really took him to the next level was a remarkably assured, clinical and hard-hitting performance against Donald Cerrone last time out that led to a first round TKO finish.
That result led to Till moving up to the No.7 spot in the 170lb rankings, which means there’s only more tough fights coming next for him, but it sounds as if that’s not something that’s troubling ‘The Gorrilla.’
“For now, I’ve asked for Robbie Lawler (and) Jorge Masvidal – I know they asked him, and he wasn’t fit enough,” Till told reporters yesterday ahead of UFC Fight Night 127.
Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson is another potential candidate and Till respects what he brings to the table as a stand-up technician.
“He’s such a good striker,” Till said. “He’s intelligent. He’s not a brawler. It’s well thought-out, the process of his fighting. Mine’s the same. I know I can outsmart him. I don’t want to beat him over five rounds. I want to knock him out. I want to devastate his life.”
