Women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and her upcoming title challenger Raquel Pennington had their first staredown together yesterday ahead of their upcoming fight at UFC 224, and it quickly became apparent that this isn’t a match-up thats going to have any bad blood attached to it.
Instead, Nunes and Pennington were all smiles and clearly on good terms during the photo-opportunity, though no doubt that will all change come fight night on May 12th in Rio de Janeiro.
Even the two fighters respective girlfriends, Nina Anseroff and Tecia Torres appeared with them on stage, making some of the photos seem more like a gathering of friends and family than a face-off prior to a fight.
There’s good reason for that as they are friends outside of the cage, with Torres being friends a teammates with both Nunes and Anseroff, and they are all insisting that regardless of what happens in the fight, it won’t change anything between them.
