A welterweight showdown between standout strikers Stephen Thompson and Darren Till is believed to have been targeted as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 130 on May 27th in Liverpool.
The 35-year-old ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson will be competing for the first time in 2018, with his last fight being a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Masvidal back in November in New York City.
Prior to that, Thompson had gone head-to-head with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley twice in a row, with their first encounter ending in a majority draw ruling, while ‘T-Wood’ narrowly edged out the rematch by majority decision to retain his title.
Till is 10 years younger than Thompson and heads into this fight undefeated and riding a wave of momentum, with four wins and a draw to his name so far since joining the UFC in 2015.
