Originally scheduled for UFC 219 last year until an injury nixed it, a light-heavyweight fight between Gokhan Saki and Khalil Rountree has now been rebooked for UFC 226 in Las Vegas on July 7th.
A decorated kickboxing star with 83 wins to his name, Saki crossed over to the UFC last year and claimed a first round KO victory over Henrique Da Silva in an entertaining and hard-hitting striking battle.
Now fully recouperated from a knee injury at the tail-end of 2017, Saki heads into a fight with Rountree, who suffered a decision loss to late replacement Michal Olekseijczuk at UFC 219, but then saw that result amended to a no-contest due to his opponent testing positive for clomiphene.
A former TUF Season 23 finalist, Roundtree had been on a two-fight winning streak prior to that with victories over Daniel Jolly and Paul Craig, though his overall UFC record stands at just 2-2 (+1nc).
Saki Vs Rountree joins a UFC 226 card that’s set to be headlined by a heavyweight title encounter between current champion Stipe Miocic and light-heavyweight kingpin Daniel Cormier, while featherweight champion Max Holloway has expressed a desire to face Brian Ortega on the card too.
