Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 128 event in Atlantic City the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a preliminary card battle between Ricky Simon and Merab Dvalishvili.
For much of the fight it was Dvalishvili who seemed to be getting the better of the action, but then in the final minute of the third round Simon got his opponent to the mat and put him in a mounted guillotine choke.
Dvalishvilli frantically struggled to stay conscious until the bell sounded, at which point Simon let go and it became apparant that his opponent was now unconscious. There was a long debate as to what to do and then the ruling came – a submission victory for Simon at 5.00mins of the the third round!
David Branch claimed one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards thanks to a thunderous right hand that sent Thiago Santos to the mat on the main card, with a few follow-up hammerfists on the mat sealing a major knockout win.
Siyar Bahudarzada earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after he sent Luan Changas crumbling to the mat courtesy of a front kick to the liver, with a big punch on the way down ensuring his KO victory.
