Following yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 134 event In Hamburg the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a main card back-and-forth battle between Danny Roberts and David Zawada.
Both fighters gave absolutely everything they had during the fight, both on the feet and particularly on the floor, but ultimately it was Roberts who was just able to edge out a split decision victory.
Meanwhile Anthony Smith claimed a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus for his swift destruction of Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua in the main event of the evening.
Barely a minute into the fight, Smith caught Rua with a right hand that appeared to rock him, before then driving forward with a flurry of punches that put ‘Shogun’ in reverse gear until he was pressed all the way back to the cage on the other side of the Octagon. From there Smith landed a brutal elbow that was the beginning of the end for the former champion, with follow-up punches landing to seal the KO win as he sunk to the canvas.
Earlier, Manny Bermudez also secured a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after he secured a triangle choke just 59 seconds into his fight with Davey Grant in the prelims.
