Renato Moicano punished Cub Swanson in the first round with his superior submission skills tonight at UFC 227, but not before first flooring the veteran with a powerful jab.
Round One:
Swanson with a leg kick to start. Quicker strikes from Swanson here earlier, but Moicano does land the jab crisply.
Swanson into range and Moicano lands a good left hook. Solid jab again from Moicano. Head kick attempt from Swanson. Low leg kick for him.
Body kick for Moicano. Now a low leg kick from him. Moicano lands a punch and Swanson tries to respond with power shots that don’t connect. He does get another leg kick though.
Right hand from Swanson. Low kick for him. Body punch. A clean, straight jab from Moicano floors Swanson! He follows up with big strikes, but Swanson survives and looks to get up.
Moicano with a big knee to the body and continues to pressure. He manages to get a takedown in the center of the Octagon. Swanson working hard to keep his opponent in half-guard.
This is Moicano’s world though and as Swanson looks to scramble upright, the Brazilian slickly takes the back and sinks in a tight rear-naked choke that quickly forces his opponent to tap out at 4.15mins of Rd1.
