A women’s strawweight encounter between Michelle Waterson and Felice Herrig has been added to the UFC 229 card in Las Vegas on October 6th.
‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson heads into this fight off the back of a split decision win over Cortney Casey back in April.
That snapped a two-fight losing streak for the 32-year-old against Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres that had dampened her hopes for a title shot, and as such at the time of writing she’s currently ranked No.7 in the division.
That’s one place ahead of Herrig, who came out on the wrong-end of a split decision against Karolina Kowalkiewicz last time out at UFC 223 back in April.
That marked an end to an impressive four-fight winning streak for Herrig that had saw her defeat Kailin Curran, Alexa Grasso, Justine Kish and Cortney Casey – the most significant run of her MMA career so far.
Waterson Vs Herrig joins a UFC 229 card that will be headlined by the biggest fight of the year as lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov finally squares off against his bitter rival, returning superstar Conor McGregor, while ‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis is expected to fight Alexander Volkov in the co-main event of the evening.
