The TV ratings are in for UFC 232’s prelims – the promotion’s final offering on FOX Sports 1 before moving on to ESPN, and it seems they ended the broadcasting deal on a high with 1.15 million viewers tuning in.
That’s the second highest ratings for the UFC on FOX sports 1 in 2018 behind UFC 229: Khabib Vs McGegor’s preliminary card.
The show also did an impressive peak rating, with 1.46 million viewers tuning in for the final fight on the prelims as Walt Harris took on Andrei Arlovski in the heavyweight division.
The numbers were good enough for the broadcast to secure second spot on cable during it’s time period, trailing only to an Alabama Vs Oklahoma football game.
The strong ratings bode well for UFC 232’s pay-per-view numbers too, and it was undoubtedly the second biggest event of the year given that it featured the return of controversial star Jon Jones in a rematch of a classic fight against Alexander Gustafsson, while there was also a compelling co-main event women’s superfight as bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes stepped up to challenge dominant featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.
It will be very intriguing to see what happens next as the UFC prepares for their first event on ESPN+, which will include a preliminary card on ESPN that will be fronted by a fight between Donald Cerrone and Alexander Hernandez.
