Anthony Smith has stepped into the fray to call out Colby Covington after the outspoken welterweight star took his latest pot-shot at ‘Lionheart’s’ next opponent, light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
It began yesterday when the UFC posted up a message promoting the fight, which will serve as UFC 235’s main event on March 2nd.
“1⃣7⃣ DAYS!
[🏆] @JonnyBones vs [🦁] @LionheartASmith
The dominant champion vs the hungry lion. #UFC235,” the UFC’s official Twitter account declared.
“Hey @JonnyBones. Nobody’s looking. Go snort a few picograms,” Covington, who used to be a roommate of Jones’ in college and has a long standing beef with him, replied.
Apparently Smith didn’t take kindly to Covington’s remark and so he soon set about putting him in his place.
“Its played out, Colby. Its not funny anymore,” Smith wrote. “Stop throwing shade at my fight. Also, I heard you have a issue with me getting a title fight… next time I see you, we should talk about that. Or you gonna tuck your tail and hide in the corner of the gym like you did in Chicago?”
