Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo and top bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes have began to engage in a war of words as they eye a shot at the bantamweight title, which was relinquished by TJ Dillashaw yesterday due to a drug test failure.
Of course Cejudo recently defeated Dillashaw to successfully defend his flyweight title and so he think he’s the rightful heir to the throne, declaring both flyweight and bantamweight the “Cejudoweight” division on the Arei Helwani Show this week.
That didn’t sit too kindly with Moraes, who is currently on a four-fight winning streak in the division and was on the verge of title contention.
“Tell Cejudo to stay in his lane,” Moraes told Helwani later. “We all saw what happened with T.J. changing weight classes last time. If he is thinking about bringing his little ass up to 135, he’s in trouble.”
“I was the youngest Olympic gold medalist,” Cejudo retaliated. “I am the UFC flyweight champion and I just knocked out a PED user in 32 seconds. You think I’m afraid of a World Series of Fighting former champion? Lol.”
Moraes had one final verbal jab in return though,
“Stay humble my friend take care of your business I will take care of mine or You’ll strike out with me worse than you did with that WWE girl [Nika Bella].”
