A light-heavyweight fight between Volkan Oezdemir and Ilir Latifi has been announced for UFC Fight Night 152 in Stockholm, Sweden on June 1st.
This is a crucial fight for Oezdemir as after a fast rise to a title shot in the UFC, he’s since gone on to lose his last three fights in a row.
That spell began with an unsuccessful attempt to take the title from Daniel Cormier, which ended by TKO, followed by a submission loss against Anthony Smith and most recently a split decision defeat against Dominick Reyes.
Despite his poor run of form, Oezdemir is still holding onto the No.7 spot on the light-heavyweight rankings, two places above his next opponent Latifi.
Latifi is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Corey Anderson back in December, but prior to that he had registered back-to-back victories over Tyson Pedro and Ovince Saint Preux, who he submitted with a guillotine choke.
The fight between Oezdemir Vs Latifi joins a UFC Fight Night 152 card that’s expected to be headlined by a bout between former light-heavyweight title contenders Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith, while another new match-up between Tonya Evinger and Lina Lansberg has also just been announced for the Stockholm show.
