Claudia Gadelha’s next fight will come against Randa Markos at UFC 239 on July 6th in Las Vegas during International Fight Week.
A former straightweight title contender, Gadelha has perhaps underperformed in recent times, losing on two of her last three visits to the Octagon.
The Brazilian fighter suffered decision losses against Jessica Andrade and Nina Ansaroff, though sandwiched inbetween that she did earn a split decision victory over former champion Carla Esparza.
Still, given that she was once considered one of the elite fighters in the division, the 5th ranked Gadelha can ill-afford to slip any further down the 115lb ladder when she goes up against the 14th placed Markos.
Markos’ record is even patchier than Gadelha’s, and in fact she’s essentially been alternating between wins and losses for the entirity of her 11-fight run in the UFC to date, going 5-5-1 during that period.
She is coming off a good win over Angela Hill however back in March and perhaps that will be the catalyst for her to get two wins in a row under her belt for the first time in the promotion.
Gadelha Vs Markos joins a stacked UFC 239 event that will be headlined by light-heavyweight title action as Jon Jones defends his crown against Thiago Santos, while Amanda Nunes returns to bantamweight for a title defense against Holly Holm.
