Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 153 event in Stockholm the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion there was no ‘Fight Of The Night’ award, with four performance bonuses being dished out instead.
That included one for main event winner Anthony Smith, who was being oustruck on the feet for the most part by Alexander Gustafsson, until the fourth round when the Swede attempted a takedown, only for ‘Lionheart’ to counter it with one of his own, take his back and then finish him with a rear-naked choke.
There was never any doubt that Aleksander Rakic was going to get a performance bonus after his stunning 42 second head kick knockout against Jimi Manuwa in the co-main event, as it was as picture- perfect as you’ll see this year.
Makwan Amirkhani also earned a bonus after coming close with an anaconda choke at the end of the first round against Chris Fishgold, only to be beaten by the bell, before going on to lock it up again in the second round to secure the submission finish.
The final bonus award winner on the night was Leonardo Santos, who floored Stevie Ray with a right hand mid-way through the first round of their preliminary card fight to claim a knockout victory.
