BJ Penn’s downward spiral appears to be continuing with the news that he was caught on film fighting with a bouncer outside a strip club in Honolulu on Monday night.
The UFC hall-of-famer was alleged to have been removed from Club Femme Nu at around midnight for being “very drunk” according to the manager.
The 40-year-old Penn then began to fight with one of the doormen, taking him down and controlling the bigger man on the street and at one point shoving his forearm into his throat.
During the fight another man attempted to intervene and appeared to punch Penn in the head several times before others warned him to back off and let the two men fight one-on-one.
Police were called to the scene of the altercation, but by then Penn had already left and it’s not clear if the authorities have pursued the matter any further since then.
The incident is the latest in a series of troubling reports emerging in recent times about the former two-division UFC champion, including having a restraining order placed against him by his long-time wife.
Meanwhile, Penn’s UFC career has long since gone off the boil, with a series of comebacks failing to end his long losing streak, which was recently extended to seven fights after a unanimous decision loss to Clay Guida.
