A featherweight fight between Cub Swanson and Kron Gracie is believed to be in the works for UFC Fight Night 161 (aka UFC On ESPN+ 19) on October 12th in San Francisco.
This fight is a crucial one for Swanson as he’s coming off a four-fight losing streak spanning a year-and-a-half period.
It all started with a guillotine choke submission loss against Brian Ortega, followed by a decision loss to Frankie Edgar, then a first round rear naked choke loss to Renato Moicano and most recently coming out on the wrong end of a split decision verdict against Shane Burgos.
The 35-year-old Swanson is still a respected competitor though in the 145lb ranks and so it would be unwise write him off just yet.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old decorated grappling star Gracie is looking to expand on his unbeaten 5-0 MMA record at the event.
Gracie made his UFC debut back in February and showed off his highly touted submission skills with a first-round tapout of Alex Caceras by rear-naked choke.
All five of Gracie’s victories so far have come by way of submission and he’ll be looking to make Swanson his next victim in October.
Swanson vs. Gracie isn’t officially signed up yet, but is expected to join a UFC Fight Night 161 card that will be headlined by a strawweight fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson.
