Germaine de Randamie took just 16 seconds to TKO Aspen Ladd in the main event of the evening at UFC Fight Night 155, though the swift referee stoppage proved to be controversial.
Round One:
The main event is underway in Sacremento.
Jabs exchanged early. De Randamie unleashes an overhand right to the jaw and Ladd falls to the mat stunned. GDR follows up with a punch on the mat and her opponent goes to her back hoping to recover.
However, she’s not given time to get back into the fight as referee Herb Dean rushes in and waves off the fight, handing de Randamie a stunning quick TKO stoppage victory just 16 seconds into the fight.
It’s a controversial ruling by Dean as at no stage did Ladd appear to be out and still seemed relatively clear-headed in the immediate aftermath of the stoppage, though there’s no doubt it was a hard punch that initially floored her.
