Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 156 event in Uruguay the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a hard-fought, heavy-hitting battle between Vicente Luque and Mike Perry in which both fighters showed off strong chins as they took big shots throughout the the 15 minute encounter, but ultimately it was Luque who just edge out the action and also handed his opponent a brutally broken nose in the process to secure a split decision victory.
Meanwhile, Volkan Oezdemir earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus for his second round knockout of Ilir Latifi, initially hurting him with a knee and then clocking him with a left hook that dropped him to his hands and knees, before another powerful blow sent him face first onto the canvas.
Also picking up a performance bonus was Veronica Macedo who took just 69 seconds to finish Polyana Viana with an armbar submission on the preliminary portion of the card, which goes down in the record books as the fastest submission in a women’s flyweight fight in UFC history.
