Kevin Lee vs. Gregor Gillespie In The Works For UFC 244

A lightweight fight between Kevin Lee and Gregor Gillespie is believed to be in the works for UFC 244 in New York City on November 2nd.

Lee will be returning to lightweight for the fight after an attempt to move up to welterweight ended in disappointment back in May with a fourth round submission loss to Rafael dos Anjos.

Lee had opted to move up to 170lbs after having lost two of his last three fights at lightweight, having first lost out in an interim title fight with Tony Ferguson by submission, followed by a win over Edson Barboza and then a decision loss against Al Iaquinta.

Now he’ll go up against Gillespie, who has a perfect 13-0 career record, which includes six wins in a row in the UFC so far.

Gillespie has defeated the likes of Vinc Pichel and Yancy Medeiros in recent times and his last five fights have all ended inside the distance, but he needs a big name win to push into the divisional top 10 and Lee definitely fits the bill.

Lee vs. Gillespie would join a UFC 244 card that’s set to be headlined by an eagerly anticipated fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal for the ‘BMF’ belt, while Kelvin Gastelum welcomes Darren Till to middleweight in the co-main event.
