Bellator and Rizin are joining forces for a major end-of-year event on December 29th and they’ve scheduled a big fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson to headline the show.
“Bellator will host its first event in Japan on December 29 and I’m very happy to help Bellator and Scott Coker to make this happen,” Rizin boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara said during a press conference.
“I do believe that Dec. 29 will be a history-changing event and Bellator will be able to make that happen. I’m very happy that they will be able to work together, along with RIZIN, and we are pleased to be the witness of this historical event.”
Fedor last fought in the final of Bellator’s World Grand-Prix final back in January, where he suffered a 35 second knockout loss to Ryan Bader.
The Russian superstar had fought his way to the final with first round TKO victories over fellow veterans Frank Mir and Chael Sonnen.
As for Rampage, he was last seen in the Bellator cage back in September of last year, where he earned another victory over his old rival Wanderlei Silva by TKO in the second round.
Before that Rampage had suffered two losses in a row, losing out by unanimous decision to both Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal and Chael Sonnen.
