A heavyweight encounter between Derrick Lewis and Ilir Latifi is believed to be in the works for an event in early 2020, with the most likely landing spot being UFC 247 in Houston, Texas on February 8th.
Lewis is coming off a split-decision victory over Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 244 just two weeks ago, which brought an end to a two-fight losing streak for ‘The Black Beast’.
The first of those losses had come in a title fight against Daniel Cormier that ended with a second round submission, while that was followed by a TKO defeat against Junior dos Santos back in March.
In total Lewis’ UFC record now stands at 13-5 and he’s currently ranked No.5 in the heavyweight division.
As for Latifi, He is coming off back-to-back losses, with a unanimous decision defeatto Corey Anderson being followed up by a second round knockout loss against Volkan Oezdemir just a few months ago in August.
Still, with wins over the likes of Tyson Pedro and Ovince Saint Preux before that, Latifi still holds the No.12 spot in the divisional rankings heading into this fight.
At this stage UFC 247 isn’t official confirmed yet and this is the first fight that’s rumored to be attached to it.
