A women’s bantamweight fight between bantamweight contenders Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington has now been rebooked for UFC 246 in Las Vegas on January 18th.
A rematch of their UFC 184 encounter back in 2015, which Holm narrowly won by split decision, the fight had originally been scheduled for UFC 243 in October, but Pennington had to withdraw on short notice due to a hamstring injury.
The UFC has stuck with that match-up though and it’ll see Holm trying to get back to winning ways after suffering a head kick loss to Amanda Nunes in their title encounter at UFC 239 back in July.
In total that leaves Holm with a 2-2 record in her past four fights, including wins over Bethe Correia and Megan Anderson, with a decision loss to Cris Cyborg sandwiched inbetween, though looking with a wider lens, she’s actually only mustered two wins from her last seven Octagon outings since her famous title-winning victory over Ronda Rousey back in 2015.
As for Pennington, she also lost by strikes to divisional queen Amanda Nunes last year and subsequently suffered another loss to Germaine de Randamie, but she has since rebounded with a split decision win over Irene Aldana.
Holm vs. Pennington joins a UFC 246 card that will of course be headlined by Conor McGregor’s return to action against Donald Cerrone, while Anthony Pettis is also scheduled to fight Carlos Diego Ferreira.
