Heavyweight boxing superstar Tyson Fury has recently been hinting at competing in MMA, and now Dana white has revealed that he’s actually been in talks with him about it.
“It’s interesting,” White told Washington’s 106.7 FM. “He and I talked the other day. We talked. So he really is interested in fighting, so I respect that. We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”
However, for the time being Fury still has a lot of unfinished business in the boxing world, including a major fight in February of next year, so White’s taking a ‘wait-and-see’ approach for now to the whole situation.
“Let’s see what happens with his boxing career,” White said. “He’s got this rematch coming up with Wilder, which is obviously huge and a fun fight for the heavyweight division. You’ve got (Andy) Ruiz and (Anthony) Joshua fighting this weekend … So we’ll see how that goes, and we’ll see what happens.”
It is worth noting that Fury hasn’t just been talking about competing in MMA, he has also already sought out UFC welterweight / middleweight star Darren Till to help him sharpen his striking and takedown defense, while he’s also hoping to train with Conor McGregor too.
Other UFC heavyweights have already taken note of Fury’s interest and Francis Ngannou recently called out the boxer, while there’s little doubt that other high profile UFC stars would also be eager to get in on a blockbuster fight of that magnitude.
