Khalil Rountree has announced that he will hang up his gloves after his next fight in the UFC, despite only being 29-years-old.
“My next fight will be my last. So be sure to watch,” Rountree wrote on Instagram.
Rountree will go up against Sam Alvey in is MMA swangsong at UFC On ESPN 8 on March 28th in Ohio, where he’ll be looking to get back into the win column one last time after suffering a TKO loss to Ion Cutelaba in his previous outing.
That marked Rountree’s second loss in his past three fights, having also suffered a KO defeat against Johnny Walker last year, with a decision victory over Eryk Anders sandwiched inbetween.
In total Rountree has gone 4-4 (+1nc) during his UFC run and has an overall career record of 8-4 (+1nc).
As for Alvey, the 33-year-old is going through a tough spell in his career, having lost his last three fights in a row against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Jimmy Krute and most recently Klidson Abreu, leaving him with an overall UFC record of 10-8 heading into this match-up.
Rountree vs. Alvey joins a UFC On ESPN 8 card that is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight encounter between Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik, while Cody Garbrandt returns to face Raphael Assuncao.
