Belal Muhammad earned a unanimous decision victory over Lyman Good tonight in a competitive fight at UFC On ESPN 11.
Round One:
Muhammad starts with a leg kick. Good with punches. Both men looking to trade at close range to start this fight. Muhammad flashes out a head kick attempt.
Round two:
Jab for Good. Now a nice jab from Muhammad. Leg kick for him. Left hand gets through for Muhammad. Now an uppercut.
Muhammed with his first takedown attempt and Good goes down, but barely touches the ground before he gets back up with Muhammad resorting to pressing him up against the cage.
Good able to break away and get back to striking range. Eye poke to Muhammad forces a brief stoppage.
Good trying to always press the action. he lands a nice right hand. Now a double jab. Good head kick attempt from Muhammad is blocked. Right hand grazes the target for him.
Body kick for Muhammad. Now a one-two. Jab for Good. Body punch for Good and then one to the chin.
Very hard body kick from Muhammad, though it’s almost caught. Nice one-two for Muhammad. Good loads up on a right hand that doesn’t quite find the mark. Muhammad with a leg kick.
Nice left hook for Good and then a right hand behind it and Muhammad has to quickly move away from the fence.
Appears to be a clash of heads there and Muhammad has a cut now to his right eyebrow. Superman punch attempt off the cage from Good with punches following. Body kick for Muhammad. Jumping switch kick comes off the arm of Good.
Round Three:
Jab for Good. Muhammad with a kick. Left hand sneaks through for Muhammad. Left hand from Good and tries to connect with the right.
jab for Muhammad. Leg kick for Good. Jab to the jaw from Good. Big right hand for Good and Muhammad staggers backwards. Another lands hard and Muhammad goes down for a second then is back up again working for a takedown. Muhammad survives for now.
Back to striking range and Muhammad still looks a bit hurt, but he’s fighting regardless. Good lands a knee. Now another punch. Muhammad bravely motions him forward.
Clinch in the center of the Octagon and Good looking to land, but then Muhammad lands an elbow on teh way out.
Nice uppercut from Muhammad. Right hand for Good. Big body shots. Right hand gets through for Good. Muhammad backs Good up with a right hand of his own.
Knee from Muhammad. Now a takedown successfully landed from him. However, Good quickly gets back to his feet. Muhammad stays on the back clinch though.
Good able to break free and back to the center of the Octagon. A minute to go. Right hand for Good. Now a left for Muhammad. Body kick for Muhammad.
Body kick for Good. Takedown attempt from Muhammad isn’t quite completed successfully to start with, but he drives through it and lands it. Muhammad taking Good’s back and pulls him back, getting in the body triangle while trying for a rear-naked choke. He can’t get the arm under the chin, but the dominant position is a good look as we head to the judges for a decision.
Decision:
The result is in and it’s Muhammad who has done enough to earn a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
