Justin Gaethje has posted a video of himself and welterweight champion Kamaru Usman having an intense sparring session in the gym recently.
“Iron sharpens iron,” Gaethje wrote on Instagram. “How much would you pay to watch this for a few rounds? [Kamaru Usman] is looking like a straight killer. Glad to have him in the room. Just two dudes having fun.”
Usman had recently revealed that he’s taken his training camp from Florida to Colorado ahead of his next fight against Gilbert Burns at UFC 251 in order to work with coach Trevor Wittman, who trains only a select few fighters, including Gaethje and Rose Namajunas.
“I wanted a little more specific attention at this point in my career — someone to be able to say, ‘You’re going to come in at this time and work on this particular skill.'” Usman told ESPN. “It’s very tough to do that when there are 40 to 50 guys in the room with you who also need to get attention.”
Usman sucessfully defended his 170lb title back in December of last year with a 5th round TKO stoppage against Colby Covington, after previously having won the belt with a dominant decision victory over Tyron Woodley.
In total Usman has won all 11 of his UFC fights to date, with his other big victories coming against the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia, Sergio Moraes and Leon Edwards.
