A light-heavyweight fight between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira is reportedly in the works to headline an upcoming UFC event on September 12th.
Santos will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since losing out by split decision to Jon Jones in a closely fought title fight back in July of last year.
Prior to that Santos had been on a four-fight winning streak, including a trio of wins at 205lbs over Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz – all of which he finished inside the distance via strikes.
Meanwhile, despite now being 40-years-old, Teixeira continues to be a major player in the light-heavyweight ranks, and is riding a four-fight winning streak heading into this match-up.
Like Santos, Teixeira is a proven finisher, as demonstrated by the fact he’s submitted both Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba as well as having TKO’d Anthony Smith during his recent run, together with a split decision victory over Nikita Krylov.
Santos vs. Teixeira still has yet to be officially confirmed, but is expected to front a September 12th card that is still very much in it’s formative stages, but will also feature a women’s flyweight rematch between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee.
