Former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler’s next fight will be against the hard-hitting Mike Perry at UFC 255 on 21st November.
It comes at a time when Lawler is struggling to find his ‘Ruthless’ form of old, having lost four fights in a row against Rafael dos Anjos, Ben Askren, Colby Covington and most recently Neil Magny in August.
The latter two defeats are perhaps most concerning since the 38-year-old Lawler appeared uncharacteristically gun-shy and never really got his game going in either fight.
While he’s certainly the more technical, skilled striker of the two, a similar approach against Perry could spell trouble as ‘Platinum’ has no such issues and will press forward looking to land a fight-ending blow.
Perry is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Mickey Gall back in June, but prior to that he had suffered back-to-back losses against Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal, with the latter seeing him TKO’d for the first time in his career.
Lawler vs. Perry will join a UFC 255 card that is expected to be headlined by a men’s flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt, alongside a women’s 125lb title bout which will see Valentina Shevchenko square up to Jennifer Maia.
