Andrei Arlovski got the better of a fairly uneventful fight against Tanner Boser tonight at UFC Fight Night 182.
Round One:
Cautious start from both heavyweights in the opening round. Boser lands a leg kick, but it is checked by Arlovski.
Again Boser kicks to the thigh and this time it lands cleanly. He stays patient and then lands an inside leg kick.
Arlovski tries for a punching combo, but Boser lands a counter. Fakes from Boser. High body kick from Arlovski lands to the chest.
Inside leg kick from Boser, but doesn’t land cleanly. He tries for a head kick, but it’s blocked by the veteran.
Arlovski with a leg kick now. Left hand from Boser connects. Now an outside leg kick. Inside leg kick from Arlovski.
Low leg kick this time from Boser. Overhand attempt from Boser, but comes off the guard. Leg kick attempt from Arlovski, but it’s checked. Spinning backfist attempt from Arlovski misses.
Front kick upstairs attempted by Boser. Head kick attempt for Arlovski is blocked and then tries to follow up with a side kick upstairs that doesn’t land.
leg kicks for Boser. Boser doesn’t connect on a body kick and Arlovski clobbers him with a right hand, but his opponent takes it well.
Round two:
Leg kick for Boser. Arlovski returns the favor. Another leg kick for Boser. Body kick for him now. Lots of staring at each other from range in this fight so far.
Side kick to the head actually lands for Arlovski but not with much power. Boser tries to let his hands go and eats a counter punch.
Outside leg kick again for Boser. Left hook for Boser and Arlovski trying to work a counter. big punch connects from Arlovski.
Solid left hand for Boser. Leg kick. Body kick for Boser and Arlovski lands a nice counter punch.
Boser with a body kick and a punch behind it. Now a leg kick. Inside leg kick for Arlovski. Now one to the outside from Boser.
Boser swings hard but misses. body kick for arlovski. Outside leg kick from Boser. Front kick to the body from Boser. Spinning backfist from Arlovski lands at the end of the round, but Boser took it.
Round Three:
Leg kick for Arlovski. He lands again. Now a brief flurry that doesn’t connect cleanly. Right hand for Boser. He misses with an overhand. He lands a couple of leg kicks.
Again with the leg kick, but that one is checked. Body punch for Arlovski. Inside leg kick for Boser and then to the outside of the same leg.
Inside leg kick for Arlovski. Spinning backfist from Boser, but Arlovski blocks it. jab lands for Bozer. Solid punch for Arlovski.
left hook for Boser. Couple of punches for Arlovski. Leg kick for Boser. Hard right hand counter for Arlovski. Inside leg kick from Boser. He goes for that again.
Boser continues to work kicks to the leg. Double jab for Arlovski. Grazing right hand for Boser. Arlovski marches forward with two left hands and then a clean right that presses his opponent backwards.
Boser with a left hand. Now he lands a right hand counter as Arlovski works a kick. Kick to the thigh for Boser.
Both fighters land a right hand and then clinch up, but break apart soon after. short hooks from Arlovski. Inside leg kick for Boser. Front kick to the body from Arlovski as the round comes to a close.
Decision:
There wasn’t too much to choose between the two heavyweights here in a fairly low-key affair, with Boser being busier with kicks, but Arlovski landing the harder, more meaningful blows and that’s enough to earn ‘The Pitbull’ a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
