Conor McGregor Predicts He’ll Finish Dustin Poirier Even Quicker This Time

Conor McGregor earned one of his nicknames ‘Mystic Mac’ early in his UFC career when he correctly called how many of his fights were going to play out, including his first round stoppage of Dustin Poirier back in 2014.

“I am going to crack him with a jab and he is going to wobble and I am going to put him away early,” McGregor said prior to fighting Poirier at UFC 178. “It is going to be a first round finish, mark my words.”

“Trust me this is a first round KO for me. I have no doubt in my mind.”

That largely proved to be accurate, with McGregor then going on to finish him by TKO after just 1.46mins of the first round, and now ahead of their rematch at UFC 257 some six years later, ‘The Notorious’ believes he’s going to finish him even quicker.

“He’s a good fighter, even a great fighter, but great is still levels below me,” McGregor says on the UFC 257 Countdown show. “I’ll knock Dustin out inside 60 seconds.”

Poirier has certainly proven to be a top-flight talent in the years since their first encounter, delivering a 10-2 (+1nc) record and winning the interim lightweight title along the way.

In the same span of time McGregor has recorded a 6-2 record, winning both the featherweight and lightweight titles along the way.
