Jake Paul Targets Nate Diaz Boxing Match After Ben Askren

YouTuber Jake Paul has only just announced his boxing match with Ben Askren on April 17th, but he’s already planning ahead to which MMA star he might go up against after that.

Thankfully, it seems that this time he’s looking at someone who, unlike Askren, actually knows how to box.

“We’re talking to Diaz’s team,” Paul told heavy.com. “He wants to do it as well. He has two more fights with the UFC apparently. So we’ll see what happens. If he frees up from the UFC, that’s the fight.”

Diaz is known to have trained with professional boxer’s in the past, so at least it’s a fight that makes some kind of sense, and apparently Paul thinks he has a good chance of beating the UFC star.

“Diaz started talking s*** to me. Bro, Diaz is a punching bag,” Paul said. “The guy just goes into fights and walks forward,”

“They’re different sports. He’s tough, but a lot of guys are tough. So the Diaz fight makes sense, and he’ll get tatted up.”

Meanwhile, another fighter Paul had once targeted to fight, Jorge Masvidal, is now going to help train him instead.

“We’re here in Miami training,” Paul told ESPN. “I wanted to channel Masvidal’s energy since he’s in Florida.

“I wanted to link up with Masvidal. I’m linking up with Masvidal tomorrow. He’s going to help me train for this fight.

“And hopefully, I can knock out Askren faster than Masvidal did. I know it seems like a lofty goal, but if I can get under 4.9 seconds then I can break his record.”

In all fairness, it’s a wise move for Paul to befriend Masvidal rather than continue down the path of trying to fight him. Time will also tell as to whether he actually does go through with his claims of fighting Diaz, or if he’s just paying lip-service to the idea.
