Dana White’s Contender Series continues to bolster the UFC’s roster as for the third week in a row, five fighters were awarded contracts as a result of their victories on the night.
That included main event winner Jailton Almeida, who got the better of a competitive first round with Nasrudin Nasrudinov and then took a firmer hold of the fight in the second round, getting his opponent down, taking his back and sinking in a rear-naked choke submission for the finish.
Despite a unanimous decision win in the co-main event against Brandon Lewis, it was still a tough night for Mo Miller as he was the only winner not to earn a contract.
On the other hand, a first round neck crank submission win for Albert Duraev against Caio Bittencourt secured his spot on the UFC roster.
At heavyweight, Lukasz Brzeski landed a huge volume of strikes against Dylan Potter, but found him very tough to finish, and so it wasn’t until late in the third round that he finally did end the fight by way of a rear-naked choke submission.
Meanwhile, two more fighters, Jack Della Maddalena and Jasmine Jasudavicius also joined the UFC ranks as a result of their decision victories over Ange Loosa and Julia Polastri respectively.
