With Julia Avila out of her end-of-year UFC Fight Night 199 bout against Raquel Pennington in Las Vegas on December 18th, the promotion have now drafted in Macy Chiasson as a late replacement.
Chiasson comes in on just 10 days notice and is currently riding a two-fight winning streak that’s seen her earn decision wins over Shanna Young and Marion Reneau.
In total that takes the 30-year-old Chiasson’s UFC record to 5-1 and leaves her ranked No.10 in the bantamweight division heading into this fight.
As for Pennington, the former title contender is also entering the Octagon off back-to-back victories, having also claimed a decision win over Marion Reneau as well as Pannie Kianzad.
With that being said, the 33-year-old had lost three of her previous four bouts beforehand, but still holds down the No.8 spot on the rankings.
Pennington vs. Chiasson joins a UFC Fight Night 199 show that will be headlined by heavyweight action as ‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis goes up against Chris Daukaus, while the likes of Stephen Thompson vs. Belal Muhammad, Cub Swanson vs. Darren Elkins and Raphael Assuncao vs. Ricky Simon also feature on the UFC’s final fight card of 2021.
